  Aswan University, headed by Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, university president, organized the “Human like Us” initiative to engage people with disabilities in the university community. The initiative is under the auspices of Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj, minister of social solidarity, and Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, minister of higher education and scientific research, and Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, under the supervision of Dr. Salah Hashem, advisor of the ministry of social solidarity for social policies and the general coordinator of social solidarity units in Egyptian universities.

  For his part, Prof. Ayman Othman confirmed at the University’s keenness on people with special needs, in light of the unprecedented care given by the political leadership to them. In this context, social solidarity unit in Aswan University implemented “Human Like us” initiative to engage students with disabilities in the university community through awareness messages of the appropriate ways to deal with various situations inside and outside the campus. The initiative was launched in the complex of the faculties of education and specific education, Aswan University, in the presence of Dr. Rady Abdel Meguid, dean of the faculty of education.

  Dr. Salah Hashem added that this initiative is part of the fruitful cooperation between the ministry of social solidarity and Aswan University. The initiative was implemented by both Mr. Khaled Saber Taha, official of unit’s awareness activities, and Ms. Basma Abdullah Gharib, official of unit’s protection and empowerment.

 In the same context,  many volunteers of the university students participated in the initiative, including; Omnia Hajjaj Abdel Halim, Zainab Abdel Sattar Mahmoud, Hana Jaafar Abdel Hafeez, Yasmine Ahmed Attito, and Aya Jaber Abdel Hamid.

 The initiative was carried out in coordination with Mr. Ahmed Mahmoud Ebeid, the unit’s coordinator, who thanked Aswan university president, Dr. Radi Abd Al Mageed, general administration of youth care, and faculties’ youth care units on behalf of the university’s social solidarity unit for the ongoing support.
