Today corresponding to 12th Jan. 2021 Aswan university acting president Prof. Ayman Othman witnessed the welcoming ceremony of freshmen and senior students in the academic year 2021/2022. The event was organized by the faculty of physical education in the presence of the faculty dean Dr. Adel Maky, the academic staff, their assistants faculty students as well as the success partners of the sports community; Maj. Gen. Ahmed Soliman, chairman of Aswan Sports Club, Mr. Salama Manzely, chairman of Aswan Rowing Club, Eng. Adham Dahab, president of upper Egypt’s swimming area, Mr. Hany Roushdy, previous undersecretary of youth and sports ministry, Mr. Yasser Markeb, touristic expert in Heisa island, Captain/ Nabil Abd Al Shakour, president of Sun Club, Mr. Hakeem Abdo Hassab Allah, touristic expert in Gharb Soheil village, Captin/ Nageib Makeen, touristic expert, some sports and touristic civil society leaders, Dr. Ahmed Abd Al Sadeq, coordinator of students for Egypt’s group, as well as Mr. Youssef Mohammed Abed, coordinator of students’ activities.
In his speech, Prof. Ayman Othman valued the role of sport in students’ life and praised Aswan university’s sports facilities, he added that the university took it upon itself to implement the initiative” Sport is a National Security” following the directions of His Excellency the President Abd Al Fattah Al Sisi to activate sports activities in the universities.
The initiative’s events were launched in the last academic year on 17th October 2020 under the patronage of the ministry of higher education and scientific research and the supervision of Dr. Sobhy Mohammed Hassaneein, vice chairman of Egyptian university Sports Federation, Dr. Hesham Al Geyoushy, federation secretary, selected group of academic staff of the faculty of physical education and employees.
Prof. Ayman Othman added that one of the most important success elements of the initiative of “ Sport is National Security” is the surge in sports facilities among which the various-purposes sports’ playgrounds, Aswan university stadium which absorbs 2000 spectators and the under construction Gym complex.
He said that the university witnessed a surge in sports facilities from which the university can benefit in promoting students’ training and skills capacities following the saying “Healthy Body Leads to a Healthy Mind”
His Excellency urged students to take the vaccine following the directions of Supreme Council of Universities to prevent students who haven’t been vaccinated from having 1st semester.
Dr. Adel Makky said that the aim of the initiative is promotion of Sport to be a lifestyle. The initiative includes several events, road bicycle racing, swimming, running, sport walking, physical fitness and other games for enhancing sports talents and graduating a healthy generation.
He added that Prof. Ayman Othman supports sports activities and the faculty of physical education through playgrounds and sports facilities, pointing at the significance of the educational and sports facilities provided by the faculty of physical education among the 27th sports faculties at the level of Egyptian universities for graduating new generation capable of competing in labor market.
At the end of the celebration, the dean of the faculty of physical education granted Faculty Shield to Prof. Ayman Othman for his ongoing and unlimited support to the faculty of physical education. Dr. Adel Makky and sports community leaders have been honored.
