Aswan university headed by Prof. Ahmed Ghallab has organized a symposium entitled” the Future of Fish Farming at Aswan Governorate” in the presence of the vice president of community service and environmental development Prof. Ahmed Sayed Khalil, the vice president of graduate studies and research Prof. Ayman Othman in addition to the dean of the faculty of fisheries technology Dr. Magdi Mohammed Ali with the participation of the General Authority for Fish Resources Development Fish hatcheries in the High Dam Lake, the General Authority of Developing Projects and Agricultural Improvement and 3 banks ( Naser Social Bank – National Bank of Egypt – Banque Misr). Prof. Ghallab opened the symposium by welcoming the attendees, he stressed on more concern on Naser Lake which its fish production is still unable to meet the shortcoming in domestic consumption where it produces about 32000 tons per year.  In the same context Prof. Ahmed Sayed Khalil, the vice president of community service and environmental development, added that the university community service sector has a vital role in participating in community issues and in linking it to the academic research study. in a related context, the vice president of graduate studies and research Prof. Ayman Othman said that the graduate studies and research sector is doing some applied research and connecting it to society in order to increase fish farming in Aswan governorate, the dean of the faculty of fisheries technology declared that the faculty mission is to provide technical consultations, technology transfer, presenting the applied research results to the stakeholders.   It should be noted that the target group of the symposium are the landowners who want to exploit their land in fish farming.
