Aswan university president Prof. Ahmed Ghallab Mohammed declared that an agreement protocol was signed on 20 Jan. 2020 which came into force in January and will continue till 3 years later regarding the EU Immunity Project. The participating universities are the following:
- Aswan University
- Al Azhar University, the main project’s coordinator in Egypt –
- Cairo University
- Damanhour University
- Ain Shams University
- National University, Sudan
- National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
- Université de Lorraine
- Leipzig University, Germany
Prof. Ghallab added that the project covers different Egyptian governorates in addition to some of EU countries. It becomes a must for the Egyptian universities to raise awareness about the significance of promoting immunity as a blocking wall against viruses especially nowadays when the whole universe is facing COVID-19 pandemic. Aswan university fulfills its awareness role via physicians, pharmacists, nursing staff, academic staff and their assistants.
The manager of quality assurance and accreditation center and the member in the Project Prof. Nady Kamal Aziz summarizes the project’s benefits in the following:
- As for the university: promoting scientific research, gaining international ranks, and establishing a developed scientific research center inside the university.
- As for the faculties: developing the academic courses to be up to date especially the courses related to immunity, creating an overall and coordinated connection between the different courses in the faculties via mutual visits between experts, academic staff and their assistants in theses universities with EU financial support.
- As for the academic staff: increasing the stock of knowledge.
- As for students and alumni: increasing knowledge about immunity changes and their effects, the ability of scientific and actual implementation of what is being taught, getting an internationally certified certificate provides them with job opportunities only for them in Egypt and EU countries.
- As for society: elevating the social awareness on the methods of strengthening the immunity.
- As for our beloved Egypt: keeping the economic resources for further sustainable development and raising the standard of living for achieving the Egyptian Vision 2030.
